November 5, 2008 Top Ten!

To my wonderful family!
This week has truly been wonderful and I am excited to share with you the top 10 rejections or misunderstandings my companions and I have experienced on our mission:) 1."I can't hear you, I'm dyslexic!" 2. "You baptize in the name of the devil!" 3. "Go back to Utah!" 4. Missionary:What is your name? "You don't deserve to know!" 5."I don't speak English"..in perfect English:) 6.Answering the phone on the subway. (It is very rare to get reception on the subway) 7."Thank you but no thank you!" 8. "You are wasting your time" 9."You polygamist" 10. "There is only one God and Joseph Smith is not a God" As it is very well known, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints receives much critism. The rejection and negativism is good because it helps me recognize those who are ready to hear such an amazing message and also that this church is true. I have recently read a quote in a magazine that I love! It is about a man who was pondering the message of the gospel and he related it to a mango tree.
"When you see people throwing stones at the mango tree, you know they are doing so because the tree is bearing good fruit. So I said to myself, since people are criticizing the church, it must have something special, something good." Many times people all over the world are throwing stones at this gospel but I know it is because it truly does have something good, something
special. I am so blessed to be called to share that with this beautiful City and each day I am in awe as I find a greater joy in every moment! I love you all so much!
Love always,
Sister Miller

Sister Miller was one of my missionaries...sort of. I kind of adopted her and Sister Buhler as my missionaries when they were in the same building as the elders I had been meeting with. But she is such a fantastic missionary. I don't know what I would have done without her. I was baptized October 12th, and she and Sister Buhler rushed all the way to the upper east side from I think Harlem to be at my confirmation, which meant the world to me. I am so blessed to have gotten to meet her. I don't know what I would have done without this amazing sister. The spirit is so strong in her and she just radiates it wherever she goes. I am back at school in MA now and I miss her so much!! She told me you all had made this blog for her so I just wanted to find it and tell you all (though I'm sure you already know!) Sister Miller is a wonderful person and one of the best Sister Missionaries out there.
Thank you for sharing her with us,
Kat (KSchneids@Gmail.com)
